Funny.
I'll bet this is not exactly the way this guy wished for his 15 minutes of fame.

Soldiers from the U.S. Army First Battalion, 26th Infantry take defensive positions at firebase Restrepo after receiving fire from Taliban positions in the Korengal Valley of Afghanistan's Kunar Province on Monday May 11, 2009. Spc. Zachery Boyd of Fort Worth, TX, far left was wearing 'I love NY' boxer shorts after rushing from his sleeping quarters to join his fellow platoon members. From far right is Spc. Cecil Montgomery of Many, LA and Jordan Custer of Spokan, WA, center.
U.S. defense chief lauds soldier in pink boxers Thu May 21, 8:05 pm ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates on Thursday praised an Army soldier in eastern Afghanistan who drew media attention this month after rushing to defend his post from attack while wearing pink boxer shorts and flip-flops. In fact, Gates said he wants to meet the soldier and shake his hand the next time he visits Afghanistan. "Any soldier who goes into battle against the Taliban in pink boxers and flip-flops has a special kind of courage," Gates said in remarks prepared for a speech in New York. "I can only wonder about the impact on the Taliban. Just imagine seeing that: a guy in pink boxers and flip-flops has you in his cross-hairs. What an incredible innovation in psychological warfare," he said. Army Specialist Zachary Boyd, 19, of Fort Worth, Texas, rushed from his sleeping quarters on May 11 to join fellow platoon members at a base in Afghanistan's Kunar Province after the unit came under fire from Taliban positions. A news photographer was on hand to record the image of Boyd standing at a makeshift rampart in helmet, body armor, red T-shirt and boxers emblazoned with the message: "I love NY." When the image wound up on the front page of the New York Times, Boyd told his parents he might lose his job if President Barack Obama saw him out of uniform. "I can assure you that Specialist Boyd's job is very safe indeed," Gates said in the speech. The U.S. defense chief was scheduled to deliver the speech at New York's annual Salute to Freedom dinner in Manhattan. |

I am looking for the picture of the Statue of Liberty -where she is holding a child and has a gun in her other hand and the pic says:
"The most dangerous place in the world is between a mother and her children." I have it printed out, hanging in the office - no scanner - was on hard drive, lost it in a reformat. Anyone have that to post so I can grab it again? Thanks!! |

"poof"
No problemo, but I'm pretty sure you must have some sort of graphics program on your computer (that would likely be the program you use to view your pictures). Just for the record, when you pull it up in your graphics program... just click on "file", look for the "save as" button and then select ".jpg" from the list as the file extension.
I'll post your images in a minute.
Send the others if you still can't do it or really don't have a graphics program.
P.S.: I added some captions.

OK so I am not as 'high tech' as you all are and I don't have a program to do that anymore or I don't even know if I had a program to convert pics. I thought I did. So if you think the pics are worthy of posting then please 'do your magic' and "poof" change them or convert them for me please. I have some other pics of some really big boomers (to me they are big as in bigger than a 50 cal.) Some kind of African rockets or missles and some IED pics but I bet they are freakin' bitmaps too. So I suck at 'tech' stuff, sorry everyone.
Thank you Rich.

Sure, send them and I'll insert them into your post.
EDIT: I got your pictures (3) and think I know why they are not uploading. You have to convert them to JPEG (.jpg) first. They are in Bitmap (.bmp) format now and this site does not accept bitmap images. [Bitmaps are uncompressed image files; JPEG's are compressed image files]
If you can't do that, fine, then I'll convert them and insert them... but give it a shot first (convert them to jpg).

That question should only arise in namby-pamby, liberal settings. The child doesn't actually have access to real explosives, just information.
Just like GI Joe action figures have gone off into the sunset, liberals are to blame for the effeminate course of so many males these days.

If the door has a floor mounted dual bar brace behind it, it may not fully work.
I say just fabricate a Hummer with a door sized ram mounted to the front and run it full speed into the offending surface.

That is too bad. I am sorry to hear about another young life cut short.
I was informed yesterday about something scary. I know that thousands of soldiers have kicked in doors to look for the terrorists. Now I know that is what my son is going to be doing.
I saw yesterday about a new piece of equipment that the military is going to be using to help with the 'door kicking' job. It is called a GREM. (I think that is what it was called, I tried to find it today and now I can't CRAP!!!) Looks like a, a, a, heck I dunno' a 'spear' or something. The 101st is going to be using it first. They stand a ways back and shoot it at the door and it just blows the door down, then they can rush the door. Less casualites that way they say.
I will look somemore to see if I can find that thing, I wonder if I was on military.com when I saw it.....OK it is called a GREM - M100 Grenade-Launched Entry Munition
I saw it here:
Edit: That video is at the bottom of the same link or I should say a link to the video is there too.

Nice link Anita.
Unfortunately, in the sense of his loss of life, the Medal of Honor has been extended once again, today... to Marine Corps Corporal Jason Dunham of New York. The Corporal purposefully took the brunt of a grenade with his helmet and body to save his fellow soliders that a terrorist threw when said coward was losing a hand-to-hand with the Corporal.
I believe that it is more than 60% of those who receive the Medal of Honor do so posthumously.

Those look like 20mm shell casings. I'll have to do some looking but the weapon that those are mounted on is usually a humvee or better.

2nd - I saw that, and laughed, even though someone got fired over it.
3rd - Nice ride. I couldn't imagine seeing one of those off road, except in 007 flicks.

"...causes some concern due to the current lack of appropriate finish on the fibers. In addition the use of ambient cure processes such as wet layup and resin infusion raise concerns of durability since these resin systems typically do not achieve full conversion and are thus susceptible to moisture induced degradation."
If you look at the curved TOP EDGE of the boot binding, it looks almost raw to me, perhaps susceptible to microwicking. The crack is also mostly longitudinal, which leads me to think it was for the above reason.
Also, remember carbon fiber is not indestructible, it's just stronger than steel BASED ON WEIGHT (5X lighter, 5X more expensive).
