Anybody bought a HD-DVD or Bluray player yet?  I'm waiting until it gets cheaper, more reliable and a format prevails (or they become dual format players).

I have downloaded some 1080p movies though and they look fantastic.  It makes me seriously consider making that leap.  Must...hold...out...

I was for waiting for the format wars to shake out... but it's not going to happen anytime soon. Both sides are holding fast.

I succumbed. We have both... a PS3 and a Toshiba HD-XA2 (which is the flagship player) in the house.

It's reliable, you just have to buy the best models.

They will get cheaper this Christmas season.

Well if you watch Broadcast TV (OTA TV) you have exactly 495 days to pony up and get one as NTSC goes dark and ATSC is all that will be broadcast. Buying one of those D/A downconversion boxes is just a wast of your money.

They are getting rather cheap now, so make sure you put a little aside in the next 16 months, 6 days (like $15 a week, which would give you $1,062 to buy a new HD set).

I highly recommend you check out the BBC documentary "Planet Earth" in HD.  It's available on HD-DVD, Bluray and good ol' fashion DVD.  It's probably the best documentary I've ever seen.
